Developing innovative, scalable and sustainable
learning, knowledge-sharing & capacity-building programs
Programs
Development Wisdom is a nonprofit organization that organizes Technology Salons in Toronto and Ottawa: part of an international network of Salons in the US, UK and Kenya - to strengthen the ICT4D community in Canada; and share international development knowledge, approaches and project experience among NGOs, government and philanthropic organizations and ICT firms to benefit vulnerable people and marginalized populations. www.TechnologySalonCanada.org
We collaborate and partner with NGOs, governments, funders and ICT firms to design and deliver education programmes and services. We design for sustainability and replicability in other contexts and cultures - delivered at scale. This includes using ICTs + Mobiles that are appropriate, affordable and accessible.
We are informed by research and build from evidence-based models of education combined with agile and iterative methodologies from the software development world using participatory approaches to achieve sustainable results.
Our programmatic areas include: aboriginal and immigrant youth; empowering women in developing countries and youth entrepreneurship. We have conducted research studies for ICT-enabled skills development for vulnerable and at-risk youth in low and middle income countries; and a Rural / Remote Community Review for a youth ICT education programme.
